Neem - The Tree of Life

Neem Oil is an effective organic pesticide but most of the cold pressed Neem Oil sold in Australia is imported from Asia and by the time it arrives here it has lost most of it's potency.  The active ingredient in Neem Oil is Azadirachtin.  This can be extracted from the seed oil where it is a more stable and more potent.  Eco Neem has 2 major effects on insect physiology and behaviour.  Firstly, the insect fails to moult (shed their skin) which severely disrupts their growth development  and reproduction. Secondly, they lose their appetite and starve. Eco Neem is not a knock down insecticide.  You may notice that the pests are still alive after application, but not feeding so no further damage to the plant will occur.   Eco Neem is diluted in water and sprayed onto plants at 1-3 ml per litre or as a soil drench at 5 ml litre.  Eco Neem is  available in 2 sizes 100 ml   $ 19.95 & 250 ml $ 37.20.

Who's Who in FNQ

Far North Queensland Wildlife Rescue (Inc.) is a group of volunteers who are dedicated to the preservation of the many species of wildlife found in Tropical North Queensland.  They are people from all walks of life who have a myriad of skills and abilities, yet common goals.  They strive to be a network of professional Carers committed to rehabilitating wildlife for release and the education of people about the value of native fauna and its habitat.

Encourage education of the community about the conservation of native fauna and its habitats,
Assume responsibility for the early assessment of sick, injured or orphaned native wildlife,
Provide appropriate care for native wildlife suitable for rehabilitation and
Adequately prepare these animals for survival in the wild once they are released.
 

Wildlife Rescue holds monthly meetings at various venues in Tropical North Queensland and always welcome new members.Provision of training, mutual assistance, support and information about the care, rehabilitation and release of wildlife.  Next Meeting 1 pm 6th June at Cominos House, cnr Greenslopes & Little Sts.
